Some information about Gulmarg

Gulmarg is about 56 km far From Srinagar , and it taking about 1½ Hour drive from Srinagar.  Gulmarg lies in a cup shaped valley in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, at an altitude of 2,650 m (8,694 ft), 56 km from Srinagar

The natural meadows of Gulmarg, which are covered with snow in winter, allow the growth of wild flowers such as daisies, forget-me-nots and butter cups during spring and summer, Skiing and other winter sports in Gulmarg are carried out on the slopes of Apharwat peak at a height of 4,267 m (13,999 ft).

 Many points on Apharwat peak and Khilanmarg offer a panoramic view of Nanga Parbat and Harmukh mountains.[3]

Built by the French company Pomagalski, the Gulmarg Gondola is one of the highest in the world reaching 3,979 metres.

 The two-stage ropeway ferries about 600 people per hour to and from Gulmarg to a shoulder of nearby Mt. Apharwat Summit (4,200 m (13,780 ft)). 

The first stage transfers from Gulmarg at 2,600 m (8,530 ft) to Kongdoori at 3,080 m. 

The second stage which has takes passengers to a height of 3,950 m (12,959 ft) on the Apharwat Peak (4,200 m (13,780 ft)).

Some Information About Pahalgam:-

From Srinagar Its 96km far, and drive about 2 hours from Srinagar. Pahalgam is famous for its scenic beauty and is the jewel of the pictures Liddar valley located in the high Himalayas. 

It provides an ideal setting for activities like hiking, trekking, and fishing. 

It is also the starting point of the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave of Amarnath.

There are many interesting tourist destinations around Pahalgam. Amongst them are the surging pastures of Baisaran. 

The huge meadows surrounded by thickly wooded forests of pine present a beautiful spectacle. Chandanwari, betaab vally, mini Swaziland, vally of Khasmir some places to visit. 

The hill station of Pahalgam has eight tiny villages inside it. Pahalgam is also associated with the holy yatra of the Amarnath cave. Chandanwari, 16 km from Pahalgam, serves as the starting point of the Amarnath yatra. 

The yatra is organized every year in the Hindu month of Sawan (July to August). Pahalgam, There are a number of activities one can undertake, while in Pahalgam. One of them is trekking.

Sonamarg, which means ‘meadow of gold’ has, as its backdrop, snowy mountains against a cerulean sky. 

The Sindh meanders along here and abounds with trout and mahseer, snow trout can be caught in the main river. 

In late April when Sonamarg is open for road transport, the visitors can have access to snow which is furnished all over like a white carpet. Private vehicles are not allowed. Visitors have to hire taxi and it is controlled by taxi Operators in Sonamarg. 

Ponies can be hired for the trip up to Thajiwas glacier a major attraction during the summer months.

The climate of Sonamarg is very bracing; but the rainfall is frequent though not heavy, except for two or three days at a time in July and August with fine spell in between. 

From Sonamarg, trekking routes lead to the Himalayan lakes of Vishansar LakeKrishansar LakeGangabal Lake and Gadsar Lake, stocked with Snowtrout and Brown trout and Satsar, glacier-fed and surrounded by banks of alpine flowers.

A close by excursion is to Baltal, 15 km East of Sonamarg. 

This little valley lies at the foot of the Zojila, only a day’s journey away from the sacred cave of Amarnath is a base camp for Amarnath yatra

Trekkers can also reach the starkly splendid roof-top of the world Leh, by crossing over the Zoji La pass.

At Sonamarg the Jammu and Kashmir tourism department is organising river rafting tournaments yearly, which has recently seen the participation of teams abroad. 

A large number of Hindi movies have been pictured in the serene beauties of Sonamarg.

Mughal Gardens

Nishat Garden

 

Nishat garden is the largest one of the Mughal gardens in Kashmir. It is situated on
the banks of the picturesque Dal Lake. Also known as “the garden of
bliss”, the Nishat gardens have the Zabarwan Mountains forming its
backdrop. Asaf Khan, the brother of Nur Jahan, designed the Kashmir Nishat Bagh
in 1633 AD. Within the garden are ruins of some of the buildings dating back to
the Mughal period.One of them is a double story pavilion enclosed on two sides with latticedwindows. There is also a small spring behind the garden, known as Gopi Tirth.

It is a source of supply of crystal clear water to the garden.Nishat Bagh of Kashmir, India, offers a splendid view of the Dal Lake as well
as the snow capped Pir Panjal mountain range. The garden has terraces, each
representing a different Zodiac sign. There is also a beautiful water channel
flowing right in the middle of the garden. Other attractions of the Nishat
garden of Kashmir include its blooming flowerbeds, trees, fountains, etc.You can also take a shikara ride at the Nehru Park from the garden. A famous
picnic spot, Nishat Bagh also offers shopping facilities to its visitors. There
are a number of shopping stalls situated opposite the garden.

 Shalimar Garden

Emperor Jehangir got the Shalimar Garden built for his wife Nur
Jahan in 1616. A second garden Faiz Baksh, (The Bountiful) was added to it
later during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (1628-1658). Covering an
area of approximately 539 m by 182 m, the Shalimar garden offers an amazing
view over the other gardens, lakes and shallow terraces. Also known as the
“garden of love”, the Shalimar Mughal Gardens has four terraces,
rising one above the other.The fourth terrace of the garden was, at one point of time, reserved for royal

ladies. There is also a canal lined with polished stones running through the
center of the Shalimar Bagh. The canal is responsible for supplying water to
the garden from Harwan.The top terrace of the Shalimar garden was reserved for the Mughal Emperor and
the royal ladies of the court. In fact, the top terrace was the most wonderful
one out of all the terraces. The terrace has a tank with a black stone pavilion
in its middle. The pavilion, which once served as a banquet hall, is supported by fluted
pillars made up of black marble. Other attractions of the Shalimar Bagh of
Kashmir include a number of fountains, shaded trees and innumerable varieties
of flowers that blossom in spring and autumn. Last but not the least, a light and
sound show organized in the garden every evening, during the period of May to
October, is simply superb.

 

Chashmashahi

 

Chashmashahi is the smallest of the three Mughal gardens of
Kashmir. Meaning Royal Spring, this garden measures 108 m by 38 m and is above
the Nehru Memorial Park. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan set up the Kashmir Chashma
Shahi Mughal Gardens in 1632 AD.The garden is quite famous for spring of energizing digestive mineral water

inside it. Chasma Shahi Garden of Kashmir, India, offers a striking view of the
scenic Dal Lake and the neighboring mountains. The garden has a number of
terraces, with several fountains built right through its center. Apart from the three terraces and fountains, the other attractions of
Chashmashahi include an aqueduct and some waterfalls. The water for the
fountains comes from the spring. This water then goes through the floor of the
pavilion and falls over to the lower terrace, over a polished black stone
chute.Also, a number of fruits, flowers and chinar trees grow in the garden, adding
to its appeal. Near the garden is a small shrine, the Chasma Sahibi with a
fresh water spring. The Chashmashahi garden is amongst the few others that
charge an entrance fee. Recently, a number of extensions were made to the
garden.

 

PariMahali

In Kashmir known as House of  Fairies is a historic monument. It
is placed above the beautiful Chashma Shahi

 near Srinagar. Ancient old monument brings out the architectural brilliance of

the foregone age.A well-laid spacious garden surrounds this house, served as a
school of astrology promoted by the eldest son of Shah Jahan, Dara ShikoThe
Garden consists of seven terraced garden located at the top
of Zabarwan mountain range over looking city of Srinagar and
south-west of Dal Lake. The architecture depicts an example of Islamic
architecture and patronage of art during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah
Jahan. It is five-minute drive from Cheshmashahi, Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.
